Alongside the National Curriculum spelling rules for Year 2, revisiting Phonics Phase 5 and working through Phonics Phase 6 we will also focus on the 64 Common Exception Words for Year 2.

The 64 Common Exception Words are words that are spelled without using the normal spelling rules. Children in England are expected to be able to spell these by the end of Year 2

These will be sent home to be learnt on a regular basis and will be tested repeatedly throughout the year.
