On Thursday 8th June, Landywood celebrated World Ocean Day. All staff and children dressed in blue and raised money for the Marine Conservation Society - a charity which strives to conserve the UK seas, making them healthier and better-protected.
Throughout the day, children learned facts all about our world's oceans and why they are important. Children then created an art piece based on the ocean.
We went on to discover some dangers that our oceans face, the main one being ocean pollution. Because of this, we cut up pieces of rubbish and stuck these to our pieces of art to symbolise what is happening.
It was an eye-opening day and now know ways we can protect our oceans. Starting this by raising £280.85 for the Marine Conservation Society! Overall, it was a successful day and we thank everyone involved.
